August Monthly Health Incentive: Well Child Checks & Sports Physicals

As summer winds down and school approaches, it’s the perfect time to make your child’s health a priority. Sunshine Community Health Center encourages families to schedule Well Child Checks and Sports Physicals throughout August.

🩺 What’s the Difference?
Well Child Check (WCC)A WCC is a comprehensive health visit that focuses on your child’s overall well-being and development. It includes:

Growth and development monitoring (height, weight, BMI, milestones)

Full physical exam

Vision and hearing screening (age appropriate)

Immunizations

Behavioral and mental health screening

Nutrition, sleep, and safety guidance

A chance for parents to ask questions about development, school readiness, and more

Sports Physical (Pre-Participation Physical Exam)A Sports Physical focuses specifically on your child’s ability to safely participate in athletic activities. It includes:

Review of personal and family medical history

Heart and lung exam

Joint and muscle function checks

Screen for conditions that may increase sports injury risk

Clearance form for school or sports leagues

⚠️ These are not the same exam! A Sports Physical is more limited and does not replace a Well Child Check. If your child needs both, we may be able to complete them in a single visit—just let us know when you schedule.
